July Meeting Wrap Up

We had a great meeting last night, although it ran a little long.

We laid out a plan for future meetings:

• Steve will present on Mono in August
• I will demonstrate Code Rush for Visual Studio in September
• We will see if we can get Rational to come do a presentaion in October
• And Chris will presnet on SharpDevelop in November

We are still undecided on our next book, and are recommending that anyone who wants to suggest a title should evaluate it and present to the group their recommendation. The following are some we are considering:

• Design Patterns Explained by Alan Shalloway and James R. Trott
• Test Driven Development (TDD) by Kent Beck
• Refactoring: Improving the Design of Existing Code by Martin Fowler
• User Interface Design for Programmers by Joel Spolsky - Chapters: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
• Some XP or Agile Methodology book

We only made it through the first three chapters of our Code Complete reading, so the rest will be put off until next month.
